The American Folk Art Museum is a free NYC museum dedicated to the appreciation of folk art and the creations of self-taught artists and includes a collection of works from the 1700s to present day.

This small museum does not display a permanent collection, but rather features changing exhibits. Their website lists current and upcoming exhibitions.

Gift Shop

The museum operates a gift shop handcrafted folk art items, note cards, books, and other items.

Proceeds from the shop support the museum.

 

Admission and Hours of Operation

Admission to the museum of free.

Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday – Thursday; noon to 7:30 p.m. Fridays; 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturdays; and noon to 6:00 p.m. Sundays.

The museum is closed on Mondays.
