    Full-Price New York Botanical Garden All-Garden Pass

    The All-Garden Pass provides admission to the gardens, the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, special exhibits, Rock Garden, the Children’s Adventure Garden, and the Tram Tour.

    Free Grounds Access on Wednesdays

    Grounds-only admission is free for everyone from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesdays and to NYC residents all day on Wednesday.

    Grounds-only admission does not include admission to the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, Special Exhibitions, or Tram Tour.

    Grounds-Only Admission for NYC Residents

    New York City residents can purchase a grounds-only pass at the gardens, for $15 for adults, $7 for senior (65+), $7 for students (with ID), $4 for Children ages 2 – 12. These tickets are only available for purchase on-site.

    Grounds-only admission does not include admission to the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, Special Exhibitions, or Tram Tour.

    Attraction Passes That Include New York Botanical Garden Admission

    Admission to the New York Botanical Garden is included with the following attraction passes:

    The New York Sightseeing Pass – There are two options available for this pass. The regular Sightseeing Pass is purchased based on the number of days you want to use it. This option allows you to visit as many of the included attractions as you can manage to get to during those days. The FLEX Pass is purchased based on the number of attractions you want to visit – you don’t have to select them ahead of time, but you’ll be limited to the total number you purchased for. Admission to the New York Botanical Garden is available with both pass options.

    The New York Pass – You can buy a 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, or 10-day New York Pass. The pass provides admission to over 100 New York attractions. You can visit as many as you can get to while your pass is valid. The New York Botanical Garden is an included attraction.

  • New York Philharmonic Free Fridays 2018/2019

    The New York Philharmonic is giving away a limited number of free tickets to people ages 13 through 26. The free tickets are for select Friday Philharmonic concerts.

    The free tickets are available online, on a first-come-first-served basis, beginning at noon on the Monday before each Philharmonic Free Fridays concert.

    The New York Philharmonic performs at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall.

    There’s a limit of one ticket per person. The tickets can be picket up from the David Geffen Hall box office on the day of the concert, up to 45 minutes before the concert begins.

  • Open Access to 140+ Sites Free During Open House New York, Oct 12 -14, 2018

    Open House New York returns October 12 – 14, 2018!

    During this city-wide event, over 140 sites are opened for free access, without reservations and many additional sites are available with a reservation. For the sites that do require a reservation, there is a $5 reservation fee.

    Take a look at the list of available sites at Open House New York’s website. The list can be filtered by borough and type of site.

     

  • Open House New York

    One October weekend each year, hundreds of New York City sites that are normally off-limits to the public open their doors for Open House New York.

    The 2018 dates for Open House New York are October 12th through 14th.

    Some of the sites provide free public access and can be visited at any time during their specified hours for the event. Some sites and tours require reservations. The sites and tours that require a reservation charge a $5 fee. Once the participating sites have been announced, you’ll be able to make your reservations online.

    The list of participating sites is not usually listed until October. Check the Open House New York website for updates.

    Carrie Underwood – Today Citi Concert Series – September 14, 2018

    Carrie Underwood is performing for the Today Show’s Citi Concert Series Friday, September 14, 2018. The concert is part of the morning show broadcast.

    This Today concert will be held at the Today Show Plaza at Rockefeller Center. The plaza is on 48th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues.


    Admission is free and on a first-come-first-served basis. The concerts are very popular and the Today Show Plaza fills up fast on mornings when there’s a concert. The show suggests that people arrive by 5:00 a.m. to get a good spot. Performances usually run from 8:00 to 9:00 a..m.

    A limited number of Fan Passes are distributed via a digital lottery system.

    In celebration of Iceland’s 100 years of sovereignty and independence, Scandinavia House is screening a series of documentaries, film features, and shorts by Icelandic filmmakers.     Scandinavia House presents screenings of short films by three NYC-based emerging Icelandic filmmakers and ASF Fellows: Thick Skin by Erlendur Sceinsson; See Ya /Sjáumst by Brúsi Ólason; and Splinter by Ninna Pálma. Following the films, they will be joined for a panel discussion with Icelandic filmmakers Kári Úlfsson (ASF Fellow 2018), Davíð Már Stefánsson, and Halla Tryggvadottir.

    The short film division of Iceland’s Stockfish festival, aptly dubbed Shortfish, focuses on highlighting up-and-coming Icelandic filmmakers. The Shortfish screening will feature six short films: Arnbjörn, C-Vítamín, In The Dark Room, Kalí’s Solitude, That’s What Friends Are For, and VAKA.

    Scandinavia House

    Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in American is operated by the American-Scandinavian Foundation and serves as a center for educational and cultural outreach programs about Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.

    The structure houses has a gallery, restaurant, and shop, plus performance spaces, halls, and meeting rooms which hosts a variety of films, concerts, lectures, and other events throughout the year.

    Scandinavia House is located at 58 Park Avenue, in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan.

    Free U.S. Open Events:

    The U.S. Open tennis tournament and Fan Week events take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens. The following events are all free of charge. The main tournament matches require tickets.

    August 21 – 24, 2018 – U.S. Open Qualifying Tournament – Watch as 128 men and women players try to play their way into the tournament.

    August 21 – 26, 2018 – Practices – You can watch players practice at the tennis center, free of charge. The U.S. Open website posts the daily practice schedules.

    August 22. 2018 – Queens Day – Including a dedication ceremony for the new Armstrong Stadium, a performance by Wynton Marsalis, and an honorary first match on the Armstrong Stadium court, featuring John and Patrick McEnroe versus James Blake and Michael Chang.

    August 24, 2018 – Media Day – The public can attend Media Day from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Armstrong Stadium on Friday to hear top players field questions from reporters.

    August 24 & 26, 2018 – Legends Matches – These exhibition matches between tennis greats are free to attend this year. On Friday, Aug. 24, former US Open champions Lindsay Davenport and Martina Navratilova will be joined by Michael Chang and Jan Michael-Gambill, while on Sunday, Aug. 26, four US Open winners – Davenport, Navratilova, Tracy Austin and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario – will face off in the Grandstand.

    September 6, 2018 – Community Day – Free admission to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Visitors can watch men’s and women’s doubles action and the mixed doubles competition. You can also see future stars in action in the singles and doubles junior events, as well as the quads and doubles divisions of the wheelchair competition. You’ll be able to walk around the grounds and get access to all of the field courts plus the unreserved sections of Grandstand and Louis Armstrong Stadium. In the evening, you can relax by the South Plaza Fountains outside Arthur Ashe Stadium to watch the two women’s singles semifinals back-to-back, all while enjoying a refreshing drink or a bite to eat.

    The US Open Tournament is held at the USTA Bille Jean King National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows in Queens.
