There are several places where you can watch free outdoor movies in the summertime, but one of the most unique has to be on the deck of the aircraft carrier at the Intrepid Museum.

On certain summer Tuesday nights the deck of the Aircraft Carrier Intrepid becomes a big outdoor movie theater. And it’s FREE to attend.

The Intrepid website says you should bring your own lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and blankets, but no alcoholic beverages.

One ticket per person. You must be in line to get a ticket. The flight deck opens at 7:00 p.m. and the program starts at sunset. Space is limited and seating is on a first-come-first-served basis. The Intrepid website says standing wait time can exceed two hours. Visit the Intrepid Museum website for details.

The 2017 series starts May 26th with a special Friday showing of Top Gun during Fleet Week.  The remainder of the season takes place on Thursday evenings from July 9th – August 6th.
