new-yearsYou can get a nice close look at the beautiful Centennial New Year’s ball used in 2007 at The Times Square Museum. The small museum is open free of charge seven days a week from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.  You’ll find the museum entrance on 7th Avenue, between 46th and 47th Streets.

The Centennial Ball is part of a “Times Square Spectacular” light show that simulates a New Year’s Eve countdown at :05, :25, and :45 of each hour.

Another neat feature of the museum is a confetti Wishing Wall.  Write your wishes for the upcoming year on a piece of confetti and it will be added to the two tons of of the stuff that showers down on Times Square at midnight New Year’s Eve. It would be fun to watch the celebration on TV and know that a little bit of something you wrote is there.

For those who can’t visit the museum but still want to join in the fun, there’s a virtual wishing wall. Submit your wish and it will be printed onto a piece of confetti and added to the New Year’s celebration.
