Guidebooks can be sort of boring. Here are two that are not. These helpful and creative guides to New York City make for entertaining and informative reads.

We just discovered NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette by Nathan W. Pyle. It was published in April of this year.

This gem of a book provides a humorously illustrated guide to the dos and don’t of life in New York City.  Pyle’s graphics provide a fun way to better understand the way New Yorkers go about things. It’s great for people planning on taking a trip to the city.

The printed and ebook versions are available at Amazon.  There’s also an animated e-book version available at iTunes.

365 Guide New York City: Drink. Eat. Save. Every Day of the Year – A Guide to New York City Restaurants and Bars is a guide to the city’s best restaurant and bar deals.  You’ll find out where the drink specials are, what time of day to find the deals, and tips on what to order at each establishment.

To qualify for inclusion in the book, each bar/restaurant has to have been open in operation for at least five years and consistently offer good deals.

The emphasis is on drink deals, but there’s information on food specials at the restaurants as well. It’s all arranged in a clean, concise format that can be searched by name, neighborhood, map (best used with electronic version) and bar/restaurant type.  The book is available at Amazon in both print and Kindle editions.
