  • The New York Philharmonic’s Free Annual Memorial Day Concert

    Free Annual New York Philharmonic Concert at St. John the Divine

    Each year at Memorial Day, the New York Philharmonic gives a free concert at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine.

    The 2017 concert is on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th, at 8:00 p.m.  The program includes a performance of Symphony No 4 by Mahler.

    Tickets are required and will be distributed beginning 6:00 p.m. the evening of the concert. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

    The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is the largest in the world. Construction on the spectacular Gothic-style cathedral began in 1828 and still continues today. The cathedral’s 40-foot wide stained glass rose window is the largest in the U.S..

    The Metropolitan Opera’s Free Summer Recitals Series

     

    The Metropolitan Opera hosts a series of free opera concerts in NYC park each summer in June.

    Concerts are held in all five boroughs.

    The concerts feature performances by the Opera’s young rising stars, who perform a selection of opera arias and duets.

    The Central Park concert usually starts the season with a performance at the park’s Rumsey Playfield.

    The concerts are free and open to the public.

  • GMA Free Concerts in Central Park

    GMA’s Free Summer Concert Series in Central Park

    ABC Morning Show Good Morning America has been hosting free summer concerts in Central Park since 2009.

    The concerts are held on Friday mornings at Rumsey Playfield, which is located on the East Side of Central Park, at 71st Street.

    The concerts runs from 7:00 to 9:00 in the morning.

    The GMA website suggests that audience members arrive at Rumsey Playfield via Central Park’s 72nd Street entrance at 6:00 a.m., when the park opens to the public.

    Concert admittance is on a first-come-first-served basis. No tickets are required for most of the concerts. However, The 2017 Chainsmokers concert on June 9th does require a ticket, which you can get free, online through the 1iota website.
