It’s not too late to plan a quick trip to New York City for the holidays. In fact, a spur of the moment trip might be the best way to travel cheap.
Plan to go during the week. The weekends during the holiday season are busy and you’re not likely to find any deals on a Friday or Saturday night stay. Check week-night rates at financial district hotels for particularly good rates – maybe not as convenient as staying midtown, but you can easily (and inexpensively) get around to the rest of the city by subway.

NYC Cheap Travel checked out some of the offerings and it looks like you get the best deals for fairly short-notice travel, i.e a week or two out. We saw mid-December four star theater district hotels listed for $142 a night and four star Central Park hotels for $121 a night. Good deals!

The location is convenient to the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Staten Island Ferry, 911 Memorial, and other destinations located at the lower end of Manhattan. And there are subway stops nearby to get you just about anywhere else.
