  • How the NYC Explorer Pass Works – Pay by the Number of Attractions

    city-rays

The NYC Explorer Pass gets you into a set number of  attractions for one price (which is lower than you would pay for individual admissions at the attractions).  The price of the pass depends on how many attractions you want to see. There are 3, 5, 7, and 10 attraction versions available.

Some other attraction passes give you admission to an unlimited number of attractions for a certain amount of time (see the New York Pass at the bottom of this page), but the Explorer Pass is based on the number of attractions you’ll see, and it gives you 30 days from your first attraction visit to see them all. You don’t need to choose which attractions you want to visit ahead of time. This pass allows you the flexibility to make those decisions on-the-go. You can choose from any of the participating attractions.

    Included Attractions

There are over 50 participating attractions, including the Top of the Rock, Empire State Building, Circle Line Cruises, Intrepid Museum, American Museum of Natural History, Metropolitian Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim Museum, NY Water Taxi all day pass, Ripleys Believe it or Not, Central Park Zoo and Bike Rental, Radio City Music Hall Tour, and many more walking, bike, bus, and water tours. A guidebook that comes with your pass lists all the available attractions.

Some attractions let pass-holders skip the ticket lines.

    Taking Delivery of Your Pass

You can load your pass onto your smartphone, print it out from an email, have it mailed to you, or pick it up in person in NYC.

How much money you save by using the Explorer Pass will vary depending on which attractions you visit.  Some offer a greater discount than others.

Where to Purchase an Explorer Pass

You can purchase your pass directly at the New York Explorer Pass website, but we’ve noticed that the prices are usually a little better at NewYork.com.

Purchase an Explorer Pass at the SmartDestinations website.

Purchase an Explorer Pass at NewYork.com.

    Other Attraction Pass Options

Other attraction pass options to consider:

City Pass – Admission to six NYC attractions ( Empire State Building Observatory, American Museum of Nature History, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, Top of the Rock or the Guggenheim Museum, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island or Cirlle Line Cruise).

The New York Pass is very similar to the NYC Explorer Pass, except that you purchase according to the number of days it’s good for instead of the number of attractions. Three, five, and seven day passes are available.
