  • Discount Tickets to Airline Highway on Broadway

    Airline Highway is a new Broadway Musical by Lisa D’Amour. The show’s story takes place in the parking lot of a once-glamorous motel New Orleans’ infamous Airline Highway where a rag-tag collection of strippers, hustlers and philosophers have come together to celebrate the life of the iconic burlesque performer Miss Ruby.

    The show comes to New York after a sucessful run at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater Company.

    Preview performances begin April 1st at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Opening Night is April 23rd.

  • Digital Lottery for Gigi Broadway Tickets

    The new musical “Gigi,” which is playing in previews on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre, is hosting a daily lottery for $30 tickets. 

    The lottery is for March 25th – April 7th performances.

    You can enter the lottery between 10:00 a.m. and Noon at the show’s lottery page. Winners will be notified by email by 12:30. The tickets are $30 and they are for the same day as the lottery.  Lottery winners may purchase two tickets.

    A limited number of $30 general rush tickets will also be available at the theater box office each day when it opens for business.  The Neil Simon Theatre box office hours are 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday – Saturday and noon to 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

    Discounted student tickets are available for advance purchase through Tix4Students.

    NewYork.com has tickets starting at $63.

    #5 Visit Broadwaybox.com and check for coupon codes. Theatermania.com has discount codes also.  Coupon codes can usually be redeemed either online, over the phone, or in person at the theater box office.  If you purchase your tickets in person from the theater box office, you can avoid paying the ticket service fees that are tacked on to phone and online orders.

    #6 Check the prices at NewYork.com.  The theater ticket prices at NewYork.com vary. Recently, they’ve been the only source of discounted tickets for hot shows such as Les Miserables, If/Then, and Kinky Boots. It’s worth checking to see what they have.

     

    #7 Search Ticket Liquidator for deals on the shows you want to see. Ticket Liquidators is a ticket re-seller. They’re a legit business that offers a 125% guarantee. They’re a good option for hard-to-get tickets to popular shows. Find tickets to the top Broadway shows.  

     

    #8 If you’re willing to wait and purchase your tickets on the day of performance, and you’re willing to wait in line for a while, the TKTS booths offer same-day tickets at 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% off full price.  The TKTS booths are located in Times Square (this is the busiest one), South Street Seaport, and Downtown Brooklyn.  TKTS booths information.

     

    #9  You can try to get “Rush” tickets on the day of the performance. Some shows have these discounted tickets available on a first-come-first served basis when the box office opens. Others how rush ticket lotteries. Playbill maintains an up-to-date summary of the Rush ticket policies for all the current shows.

     

    #10. Earn free tickets with Audience Rewards.  This frequent flyer-type program for the theater rewards you with points for tickets purchased and also allows you to convert points from airline frequent traveler programs. You can redeem accumulated points for free tickets to Broadway shows.

     


    #11  If you are a college student, many shows have student discounts available. The most common discount for students is the “student rush” ticket. Each theater has their own policy for how they handle these tickets, some are sold an hour or two before curtain time, some when the box office opens. Broadwayspotted’s guide to rush ticket policies has all the information for current shows.  Some shows sell discount student tickets in advance through tix4students.com. There’s a $5 annual membership fee to use that site, but the discounts are good and advance purchase lets you avoid lines, so it’s probably worth it.

     

    #12 Load the TodayTix app onto your smart phone and use it to purchase discounted tickets.  Tickets to shows are available for about a week in advance. You’ll have a variety of seating sections and prices to choose from, and once you make your purchase the tickets will be hand-delivered to you at the theatre.  TodayTix.com

  • “Something Rotten” Digital Lottery

    Theater-goers can try for discount tickets to the new Broadway musical “Something Rotten” through the show’s digital rush ticket lottery system.

    Beginning March 26, 2105 at limited number of tickets, including front row, will be made for $25 each through a daily digital lottery on the show’s website. Lottery winners can purchase two tickets at the $25 price. Something Rotten Lottery entry form.

    More traditional same-day rush tickets, available in limited supply each day when the St. James Theater box office opens, will be sold for $35 each beginning March 26. There’s a limit of two tickets per person for these too.

    Something Rotten” is a new musical comedy. The show is set in 1590s England and tells the tale of two playwrights who, tired of living in Shakespeare’s shadow, set out to write the world’s first musical. The show stars Tony Award winner Christian Borle and Tony nominee Brian dArcy James. The show begins preview performances at the St. James Theatre on March 23rd. Opening night is April 22nd.
