  • Outside Mullingar with Debra Messing & Brian F. O'Byrne


    Outside Mullingar is a new Broadway play starring Debra Messing, Brian F. O’Bryne, Peter Maloney, and Dearbhla Molloy.  The play is written by John Patrick Shanley (Doubt and Moonstruck) and directed by Dough Hughes.  Previews begin on January 3, 2014.  The show is running for a limited 11 week engagement.

    Outside Mullingar is about the coming together two 40-ish introverted misfit neighbors in Ireland.  See the synopsis – they explain it better than I can.

    The play is a Manhattan Theatre Club production at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

    The Manhattan Theatre Club has a “30 Under 30” program that makes $30 tickets to their performances available to people under 30 years of age.  It’s free to join up, you just need to be under 30 and fill out their online form.

    You can purchase one ticket for yourself and one for a guest of any age.

    Once you’ve joined up, you’ll receive email updates letting you know what performances are available for purchase.

  • Discount Tickets to The Glass Menagerie on Broadway


    The current Broadway production of The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams has made the “Best of 2013” lists at many publications, including The New York Times, New York Magazine, TimeOut New York, and USA Today.

    The show’s run has been extended, but it’s scheduled to close February 23nd.  So, if you want to see it, you’ll need to plan on going soon.

    Rock of Ages” tells the story of a boy from Detroit and a girl from a small town who chase their dreams of making it big in L.A.  The show is set in the 1980’s and features hit songs from that era, including We Built This City, We’re Not Gonna Take It, Her I Go Again, and Can’t Fight This Feeling.  If you enjoy the music of the 80’s, you’re bound to enjoy this show.

  • Winter Broadway Week 2014: 2 for 1 Show Tickets

    It’s almost time for the semi-annual Broadway Week to begin again. The Winter 2014 Broadway Week will take place January 21st – February 6th.

    Two-for-one tickets will go on sale beginning January 6th at 10:30 am.  Tickets can be purchased at the Broadway Week website at www.nycgo.com/broadwayweek.

    Broadway Week actually lasts a little over two weeks. Remember that the Super Bowl is February 2nd at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. That’s likely to bring a lot of people to NYC and hotel rates will probably go up right around that date. If you want to take advantage of the theater ticket savings and find good deals on hotels, it may be best to plan your trip for either the beginning or end of the January 21 – February 6 stretch.  Search for hotels.

    The popular novel and movie, The Bridges of Madison County is now a musical, and it arrives on Broadway in January.

    Based on the novel by Robert James Waller, the show’s book is by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics are by Jason Robert Brown.  Bartlett Sher directs.  The cast stars Kellie O’Hara and Steven Pasquale.

    Carnegie Hall is one of the most famous concert halls in the world.  Many legendary musicians have played here and it’s a great place for music lovers to enjoy a concert.

    The building houses several performance spaces.  There’s the Main Hall (Isaac Stern Auditorium/Ronald O. Perelman Stage), Zankel Hall (known as the Recital Hall), and the smaller Weil Recital Hall.

    There are several ways to save money on Carnegie Hall tickets.

    You can still hear everything: You can purchase tickets for seats for restricted views or restricted legroom for 50% off the regular ticket price.
