  • Mobile Lottery for Fun Home on Broadway

    The new Broadway musical, Fun Home just won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical! With all the attention a Best Musical Tony Award brings, deals on this show may be hard to come by.

    One option is to enter the Fun Home digital lottery for $32 tickets. The lottery is for day-of-performance tickets. Winners will be notified three to four hours before show time and tickets can be picked up and paid for at the theater box office (no later than 15 minutes before showtime).

    The lottery is being run by TodayTix and you’ll need their app for mobile entries. There’s also an option for entering by mail.

    Other discount sources for Fun Home include a promo code at Broadwaybox.com good for discounts through July 12, and NewYork.com is advertising a discount of $30+.   For students, discount tickets are available for advance purchase online at TIX4STUDENTS.

    Fun Home is playing at the Circle in the Square Theatre (235 W 50th Street). The show is based on the graphic memoir by Alisson Bechdel. Music is by Jeanine Tesori, books and lyrics by Lisa Kron. Sam Gold is the director. Cast includes Michael Cerveris and Judy Kuhn.

  • American Ballet Theatre 2015 Spring Season Discount Tickets

    Dance fans can see American Ballet Theatre performances at the Met for a discount price with rush tickets and week-of-performance discounts.  The 2015 Spring Season performances are May 11th – July 4th. The American Ballet Theatre performs their Spring Season at the Metropolian Opera House, 30 Lincoln Center Plaza.

    Regular full-price American Ballet Theatre tickets can range from $20 to $220. The least expensive tickets are partial view seats and Family Circle section seats.  See ticket information at the ABT website.

    Student Rush Tickets: American Ballet Theatre offers student rush tickets for the 2015 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House. $29 Orchestra and $7.50 Family Circle tickets are available at the Met Box Office ONLY on the day of the performance, pending availability. Student Rush is available to elementary, high school and college students who are 25 years of age or younger. A valid ID is required. ABT Rush ticket policy announcement.

    Discount Tickets at Lincoln Center’s Rubenstein Atrium: You may be able to obtain discount tickets on the week of performance at the Zuker Box Office at the Lincoln Center’s Rubenstein Atrium. The box office is open Tuesday – Saturday  and sells tickets to select Lincoln Center performances at a 25% to 50% discount. Zucker Box office hours and information.

    Living Social, provider of discount entertainment, activities, and merchandise, has some new deals on Broadway shows.

    “It’s Only A Play” starring Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, F. Murray Abraham, and T. R. Knight is scheduled to close on June 7th. But you can get a deal on tickets to the final weeks of performances with the current LivingSocial offer. They have tickets for $49 to $109 that are regularly $69 to $147. Get ’em while you can.

    “On the Twentieth Century” starring Kristin Chenowith and Peter Gallagher. Living Social has discount tickets priced at $67 to $152.

    There’s also a continuing deal on ticket for The Visit starring Chita Rivera.

  • “An Act of God” Digital Lottery

    “An Act of God” is a new Broadway comedy currently in previews at Studio 54. Jim Parsons (Sheldon on “The Big Bang Theory” played the lead roll. The show is 90 minutes, performed without an intermission. Opening night is May 28th and the show has a limited run, with performances scheduled to end August 2nd.

    $37 tickets for preview performances are available through a digital lottery. The lottery is handled through the Today Tix app. Winners are notified 3 – 4 hours prior to the performance and tickets can be picked up and paid for at the theater box office.

  • Discounts for Tony Award Nominated Shows

    The 2015 Tony Award nominations have been announced and we take a look at which of the nominees still have bargain tickets available.

    Often, Broadway shows that receive nominations for a Tony Award will not have discount tickets available. However, that’s not always the case. A Tony nomination doesn’t necessarily mean a show is a hit with the audiences. If a show is slow catching on, there may well be discounts available. Although most of the shows on the 2015 nominees list are not selling discounted tickets, there are a few that are. You’ll notice that most of the available discounts expire on June 7th, the day of the Tony Awards Broadcast. After the awards are given out, there will probably be a shift in ticket prices, with tickets to winning shows going at a premium and possibly more discounts for shows that don’t win an award.

  • Discount Blue Man Group Tickets


    Everybody’s heard of the Blue Man Group, right? Here’s a chance to see a live performance in person in New York City for a discount price.

    Goldstar has discount Orchestra/Mezzanine tickets available.

    LivingSocial has Blue Man Group Orchestra/Mezzanine and Poncho tickets for $49 – $85. “Poncho” tickets are for the first four or five rows closest to the stage. You’ll be close to the action and you’ll be given a poncho to wear in case you get splashed by stuff.

    The Blue Man Group performs at the Astor Place Theatre, 434 Lafayette Street.

    Student Rush Tickets: Discount student tickets on sale at the theater box office one hour before the show (if tickets are available). The student rush tickets are $32. You’ll need to show a valid ISIC or college ID.

  • "Chicago" Discount Tickets

    Chicago is a very popular, long-running Broadway show now in its 18th year on Broadway.  Chicago is playing at the Ambassador Theatre, 219 West 49th Street (between Broadway and 8th Avenue).  Grammy Award Winner Brandy Norwood is starring in the role of Roxie Hart through June 21, 2015.

    Check out the official Chicago website for information about Matinee Madness, with tickets starting at $49.50 for Saturday and Sunday 2:30 shows.

    Three new Broadway discounts have been added to the Broadway Show Discounts List.

    Groupon has discount tickets for Gigi. The discount tickets start at $45 for performances May 5 – 30.  The least expensive tickets are $45 for Rear Mezzanine seats for Tuesday – Thursday evening performances (regularly $65.75). The most expensive are $107 for Orchestra and Front Mezzanine seats for Friday & Saturday performances (regularly $156.75).  There are a lot of options priced between these two. View the Groupon offer and click the “Buy” button to see all the prices. Ticket purchases are handled through Ticketmaster.

    Goldstar has discount tickets for A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder and Jersey Boys.  The discount Gentleman’s Guide tickets are for Tuesday – Thursday performances in May. Prices are $69.00 and $91.50 including fees.  Regular full price for the Gentelman’s Guide tickets is $99.00 – $142.00.  The discount Jersey Boys tickets are also for Tuesday – Thursday performances in May. Prices are $80.25, $101.50, or $111.75 including fees.  Regular full price for the Jersey Boys tickets is $97 – $120.
