    About the New York Coffee Festival:

    The 2017 New York Coffee Festival takes place October 13 – 15.

    This year’s festival will be held at Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues.

    Festival attendees can enjoy unlimited free coffee, workshops and live music. Learn about the various different ways to make and brew coffee at home in the Lab, visit your favorite barista at the True Artisan Café, and get something to eat at the street food market.

    The event is broken down into several three-hour sessions. Saturday: Morning session: 9:30am-12:30pm; Afternoon session: 12:30pm-3:30pm; Late session: 3:30pm-6:30pm.  Sunday: Morning session: 9:30am-1:00pm;

    Harbor cruises are a great way to see the Statue of Liberty and New York City skyline.

    The Spirit of New York cruises depart from Chelsea Piers and travel around the southern end of Manhattan.  See the cruise route on the Spirit of New York website.

    The Spirit is large, modern, and comfortable, with both open-air and enclosed air-conditioned (or heated in the winter) areas.

    Spirit dinner cruises board at 6:30 p.m. and depart at 7:00 p.m.  A buffet dinner is served and there is DJ music and dancing. Cruise duration is 3 hours.

    Recommended attire for the dinner cruises is slacks and a polo or button down shirt for men and nice pants or a dress for women. Designer jeans are also acceptable. Although allowed, t-shirts, casual jeans, shorts, and sneakers are strongly discouraged.

    Regular full-price for The Ride is $74.  They often run promotional specials. Be sure to compare deal offers with prices at The Ride website to make sure you’re getting the best deal.  Look for “Flash Sales” and family pack offers. Flash sales are also sometime featured on their Facebook page.

     

    A few notes about The Ride: Not recommended for children under the age of 6. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. All Children must be supervised.   There is no food or drink permitted on The Ride.  There is no restroom available on The Ride.

    Due to sideways seating, frequent stops and starts, strobe lighting, loud music, and simulations that include floor shaking, sudden tilting, and jarring actions, The Ride has a safety advisory posted on their site advising that: The Ride is not recommended for guests with motion sickness or dizziness, sensitivity to strobe or other lighting effects, back, neck or similar physical conditions, heart conditions or high blood pressure, sensitivity to loud sounds.     Each summer, the area that is occupied by the Wollman Rink ice skating in the winter is converted to an amusement park. The park is known as Victorian Gardens and features kid-sized rides.
