The Lex NYC is a small boutique hotel in the NoMad neighborhood of Midtown Manhattan.
- Good Reviews: The hotel gets good reviews at TripAdvisor, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars and a Top 50 ranking in New York City.
- Affordable Rates: We found rates for The Lex to vary significantly by day of the week and time of year, so you’ll get the best deals if you can be flexible about your travel dates. We spotted some rates just under or over $200 a night. The average seems to be in the $220 to $280 range, with lowest rates on Sundays and Fridays. The best deals can be found during the off season (July – August & January – February).
Good Location: The Lex NYC is located at 67 Lexington Avenue, between 25th and 26th Streets in what’s known as Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood (north of Madison Square Park). Madison Square Park is nearby. The hotel is in a good, central location for exploring NYC.

- Affordable Rates: The Distrikt Hotel regularly has rooms available for around $220 a night. There doesn’t seem to be as much day-of-the-week rate variation with this hotel as with others, although Sunday rates are consistently the lowest. We spotted Sunday rates under $200. As with most NYC hotels, rates are best during the “off” months (July – August and January – February).

The Pod 39 Hotel is a Midtown East hotel which features small but efficient rooms at reasonable prices.
- Good Reviews: The hotel gets good reviews at TripAdvisor, with an average rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
- Affordable Rates: POD 39 has some very affordable rates, however the rates vary by day of the week and time of year. We saw rates from $105 to $225 a night for Single PODs. Sunday rates were consistently the lowest, Fridays and Saturdays the highest.
Good Location:POD 39 is located at 145 E 39th Street, in Murray Hill, on the eastern side of Midtown Manhattan. Grand Central Terminal, the Chrysler Building, United Nations Headquarters, New York Public Library, and Bryant Park at all nearby.
- Single PODs and Bunk PODs: POD rooms come in a variety of configurations. POD 39 has single PODS available, providing a good option for solo travelers. Bunk bed PODs are great for friends traveling together. More conventional double and queen PODS are also available. All of the POD rooms are small and range from 90 square feet to 140 square feet in size.
- Rooftop Lounge: POD 39 has a rooftop lounge and seasonal bar for hotel guests.

A good way to save money on hotel reservations is to use the promotional codes offered by online hotel reservation booking sites (such as Travelocity, Expedia, Hotels.com, etc). Promo codes are almost always available but they change pretty regularly, so you need to find the most current codes available.

Hotels.com: Hotels.com usually has several promo codes available.

TripAdvisor: This isn’t a promo code, but a hotel search tip: Before you book your hotel anywhere, it’s always a good idea to check the prices listed at TripAdvisor.com. Not only do they list the rates at many of the hotel booking sites, but they also list any special offers provided directly from the hotel (look for the yellow “special offer” under the title on the hotel page. You can also check out their NYC “Special Offers” page to see which hotels are offering deals. Visit TripAdvisor.com.
Hotel Promo Code Tips:
#1: The promo codes from the hotel reservations websites usually do not work on all the hotels listed on their sites. It is often the national chain hotels that are excluded. Fortunately for NYC travelers there are many very good independent hotels that do participate in the promotions.
#2: Follow the links to go to the sites offering the promotions, but be sure to write down the promo code before you leave this page. Sometimes the promo codes are automatically added when you click through from here, but often they are not.
#3: Test the promo code on the hotel you’re interested in before you spend time entering in a lot of other information. To test the code, proceed as if you were going to book the hotel and then, on the booking page, find the box where you enter the promo code. If the code is going to work, the total price for the hotel should be adjusted accordingly. If it doesn’t work, you can back out and try a different hotel.

Row NYC Hotel From $79 a Night
Row NYC is one of the Theater District’s more affordable hotels and it’s even more affordable with the sales prices currently listed at Jetsetter.com.
Rooms are currently listed for as low as $79 a night. We checked several arrival dates and found the lowest rates were for stays in January and February, but there were also very good rates (around $120 a night) available for March. See the Row Hotel details and pricing.
The hotel is located at 700 8th Avenue, between 44th and 45th Streets.

$120 Hotel Rooms in New York City? Yes!
NYC hotel rates fluctuate wildly. They vary daily. The rate charged depends on the time of year and day of the week.
If you’d like a take a winter trip to New York City, some of the best hotel rates can be found on the week after New Years. Weekend rates in the NYC tend to be cheaper during the winter months anyway, because fewer tourists are visiting the city; combine that with a post-holiday lull in business, and you have a great opportunity to find some very good rates at nice hotels.
Hotelwatchdog does a good job of locating these kinds of special bargains. They keep track of hotel prices and watch for hotel deals that combine great locations, great ratings, and unusually low prices. They indicate how good a deal is by reporting how the price for the dates you’re interested in compares to the 45-day average at that hotel. Some examples for the weekend of January 6 – 9 are listed below.
