Food & Drink – This is where you’ll find deals for restaurants, bakeries, bars, coffee shops, and more.
Things To Do: Sightseeing & Tours – The deals in this category vary greatly by time of year. The best deals on tours, cruises, etc can usually be found during the off-seasons (i.e. the hottest and coldest months of the year)
Things To Do: Tickets & Events – Groupon regularly has deals on tickers for concerts, theater, and sports events. There are good deals on Broadway tickets at Groupon, but check other Broadway discount options to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
Things To Do: Kid’s Activities – Family-friendly entertainment, activities, and tours.
Tips Regarding Groupon Deals:
- Look at the dining deals carefully to make sure they’re in a neighborhood near where you’re staying or where you’ll be sightseeing. Unless it’s a really special dining experience, you don’t want to spend a lot of time and cab fare getting to an out-of-the-way restaurant.
- Read “The Fine Print”. Each Groupon deal has a section called “The Fine Print”, don’t skip it! This is where you’ll find expiration dates, any specific time or date restrictions, voucher redemption procedures, reservation requirements, etc.
- Check the expiration date on each deal to be sure that the deal will still be good when you plan on taking your trip to the city. You’ll find expiration date information in “The Fine Print”. Note that even if the promotional value of a deal has expired, the voucher is still good for the amount paid. Your voucher can always be redeemed at the merchant who issued it for at least the amount you paid for it – even if the promotional value has expired.
