    About the New York Coffee Festival:

    The 2018 New York Coffee Festival takes place October 12 – 14.

    This year’s festival will be held at Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues.

    The Coffee Festival feature live experiences from over 85 coffee, food, and equipment suppliers. Attendees can enjoy endless free coffee tastings, interactive workshops, demonstrations from world-class baristas, delicious street food, intoxicating coffee cocktails, live music, art, and more.

    The event is broken down into several three-hour sessions. Saturday: Morning session: 9:30am-12:30pm; Afternoon session: 12:30pm-3:30pm; Late session: 3:30pm-6:30pm.  Sunday: Morning session: 9:30am-1:00pm;
    Afternoon session: 1:00pm-4:30pm.

    It’s time for the annual summer edition of New York Restaurant Week!

    Restaurant Week dates are July 23 – August 17, 2018.

    The way Restaurant Week works is that restaurants offer 2-course lunch and 3-course dinner menus at a set special price. There are many restaurants to choose from. Reservations are suggested and you can make reservations online at the Restaurant Week website.

    Meal prices are $26 for a 2-Course Lunch or $42 for a 2-Course Dinner.

    Restaurants offer a minimum of three choices for appetizers and three choices for entrées at lunch ($26). Restaurants offer a minimum of three choices for appetizers, three choices for entrées and at least two desserts at dinner ($42).

    This year’s participating restaurants are grouped into “collections” to help you choose where you’d like to dine. Some collection names are a little more obvious than others. There are NYC Classics, Best-Kept Secrets,  BYO SPF (patio dining), Squad Goals (group-friendly), Swipe Right (romantic), Diner is the Show (big on presentation), Expense It (business-friendly), and Sunday Funday (brunch).

    Another way to get a meal in with your attraction pass is to take one of the culinary walking tours offered. Some specialize in deserts, but most offer a variety of foods, allowing you to get a meal in while seeing the city.

  • Taste of Times Square

    Annual Times Square Food Festival

    Taste of Times Square takes place in June of each year. The event features food from over 40 Times Square restaurants, plus live music.

    The 2017 Taste of Times Square date is Monday, June 5th and the hours are 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

    Booths with food sampling are located on West 46th Street from Broadway to 10th Avenue.

    Festival admission is free. Tasting tickets are $1 each and the price for each dish ranges from two to six tickets. You can purchase tickets at the event or in advance online.

  • Free Saturday and Sunday Brooklyn Brewery Tours

    Have you ever toured a brewery? Well, here’s your chance. The Brooklyn Brewery offers free tours of their facilities on Saturdays and Sundays. They offer tours other days of the week too, but there’s a charge for those.

    The weekend tours start at noon on Saturday and depart every half hour from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and start at noon on Sunday and run every half hour from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. You can pick up a tour ticket at the brewery’s Company Store beginning an hour before the tour’s start time. The tours are limited to 40 people and are first-come-first-served. The brewery’s website provides the details on how all of this works.

    You can try the beer, but that’s not free. Beer tokens are $5 each or 5 for $20.

    Please visit the Brooklyn Brewery website to confirm details before heading out to the brewery.

    The Brooklyn Brewery is located at 79 North 11th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, between Berry Street and Wythe Avenue. Directions.

    The Winter 2017 edition of NYC Restaurant Week happens January 23 – February 10, 2017 (Saturdays are excluded and some restaurants don’t participate on Sundays). We’re not sure why they call it Restaurant Week when it goes on for almost four weeks, but the extra time is good news for anyone who wants to try out some NYC restaurants at discount prices.

    A list of participating restaurants is posted at the Restaurant Week website. The prices for Restaurant Week 3-course meals are $29 for lunch and $42 for dinner.

    The way it works is that restaurants offer special three course lunch and dinner menus at a set special price. There are many restaurants to choose from. Reservations are suggested and you can make reservations online at the Restaurant Week website.

    Many of the participating restaurants have have provided links to their Restaurant Week menus on the Restaurant Week website. It’s fun to look at the variety of dishes offered.

    American Express Card holders can get $5 back on Restaurant Week meals by enrolling their card in the Restaurant Week promotion and using their AMEX card to pay for their meals. The offer is good for a $5 statement credit when you spend $35 at participating restaurants. You can get up to 4 statement credits. Details.

    Other winter-time NYC promotions that coincide with Restaurant Week dates are Broadway Week (2-for-1 theater tickets, January 17 – February 5) and Attractions Week (2-for-1 tickets to tours, museums, and attractions, January 17 – February 5).

    Sounds of Brazil, also known as SOB, is a popular Manhattan music and dining venue that features South American dishes and dancing to live and DJ music.

  • Summer 2016 NYC Restaurant Week

    dining-colorThe dates have been announced for the 2016 summer edition of NYC’s Restaurant Week (which is actually longer than a week).

    Summer 2016 NYC Restaurant Week is July 25 – August 19.

    During Restaurant Week, participating restaurants offer specially-priced three-course lunch and dinner menus. The prices for the 2016 event haven’t been announced yet but last year’s prices were $25 for lunch and $38 for dinner.

    The list of participating restaurant and reservations will be available on July 11 at the Restaurant Week website.
